Central Montana Forum (CMF) was launched in September of 2010 as a place where central Montana
folks (past, present and future) can exchange ideas and knowledge in a respectful and fun
atmosphere. CMF is based on the philosophy that more ideas are always better than fewer ideas;
more perspectives are always better than fewer perspectives; and that any idea or belief that is worth
having should be subjected to respectful and intellectually honest challenges to prove the worth of
that idea or belief.
CMF embraces all forms of writing that put new ideas into the public sphere and can inspire others to
see new and unique perspectives of our world. Whether you are interested in writing fiction, poetry,
nonfiction, journalistic news articles, opinion pieces, or any other genre of writing, we need to hear
from you! We are open to most any subject matter (with some obvious exceptions) and we want our
stable of writers to reflect the full spectrum of perspectives and ideologies. Best of all ... YOU choose
to write about whatever interests YOU!
Each article will be published in a manner similar to the one you are reading. The headline will be
posted on the front page, and each article will get its own page with ample room for as much text
and as many pictures as you provide. A "discuss this article" link will be attached to each article and
will direct readers to a unique thread in our discussion area for public comments, debate, feedback,
brainstorming, and whatever else anyone wants to add.
Each story will also include a Facebook "Like" icon, which will allow you to promote your writing further
on Facebook.
We will offer basic editing for each story simply to assure a quality end-product, but no edits will be
made to your work that change the essence of what you have written. If any more significant editing
is deemed to be beneficial by a CMF editor, we will run all suggestions by you first.
We understand that it's not always possible for each writer to publish everything they want to
publish under their true identity. To accommodate those situations, we are happy to allow each writer
to submit materials to be published under a pseudonym/pen name. However, to maintain the
integrity of the process, each writer will only be allowed to publish materials under one
pseudonym/pen name, in addition to their real name.
If writing for CMF sounds like fun and is something you want to do, or even if you aren't quite sure
and want to ask more questions about the idea, please contact us at contact@406forum.com. We
are looking forward to hearing from you!
